NZ “ALL BLACKS”
NZ ALL BLACKS – 2011 RUGBY WORLD CUP WINNERS
The New Zealand All Blacks have finally got the monkey off their back, by beating France 8-7 in the 2011 Rugby World Cup Final. The last time the All Blacks won the coveted Webb Ellis Trophy was in 1987 when they, again beat France in the inaugural Rugby World Cup, at the same venue Auckland’s Eden Park. The 2011 New Zealand Rugby World Cup was a huge success, with the renown New Zealand hospitality coming to the fore, giving the New Zealand game venues a chance to showcase their respective cities, from Auckland to Dunedin. The games were played in the true sporting spirit of Rugby Union, with the lesser known teams, like the USA, Canada, Namibia, Georgia etc, pitting themselves against the powerhouses of Rugby Union, the All Blacks, the Australia
Wallabies, the South African Springboks, England, etc. All the teams gave their best in this tournament and can be proud of their performance, no matter what the score line they gave their all right up until the final whistle, smaller teams also showed significant improvement from previous world cups.
The final game took everyone by surprise, with the All Blacks expected to win easily, but no one told the French, following the All Black Haka and from the kick off, France came out firing and at times passing the ball at will, but the experience and discipline of the All Blacks finally saw them through. In fairness the All Blacks probably deserved to win this tournament, after convincingly winning all their games on the way to the final, and rightly retaining their title as the top Rugby Team in the world.
The next Rugby World Cup will be played in England in 2015 four years from now in famous venues like Wembley Stadium London, Old Trafford Manchester and of course the home of English Rugby Union, Twickenham. Between then and now their will be plenty of International Rugby played right across the globe, to keep up to date with all International Rugby games check out the following link http://www.irb.com/.
